Payments and billing

AxioTab is card and online payment only

Every order is paid by card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. There is no cash drawer, and cash taken outside AxioTab appears in no report.

AxioTab takes card and online payments, and nothing else. Guests pay by card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay through your own Stripe account, whether they order on your site, at a table, or at your counter. There is no cash drawer, no till to count, and no cash tender anywhere in the product.

How a walk-in pays

Ring the order on the tablet the way you always have, then tap Take payment. The tablet shows a code the guest scans with their phone camera, which opens the same secure Stripe checkout your online guests already use.

The order does not reach the kitchen until the payment goes through, so a code nobody scans is an abandoned cart rather than food sitting on the pass.

No card details touch your tablet or AxioTab at any point. The card is handled by Stripe, on the guest's own phone.

Cash you take anyway

Nothing physically stops you handing over a bag and taking a twenty for it. But that sale never entered AxioTab, so it is in no sales total, no tax figure, no daily record, no tip report, and no file your bookkeeper receives.

Treat cash as entirely outside the system and reconcile it the way you did before AxioTab. Do not expect a report here to account for it, because none of them can see it.

What this changes about your reports

Every figure in AxioTab is now a card figure, which is exactly why the numbers reconcile. Sales, tax, tips, and fees all trace back to a Stripe payment you can look up.

Days close on their own overnight, so your daily record and the bookkeeper's journal file are waiting the next morning. There is no till to count first and no button to remember to press.

Common questions

Can we turn cash on for one location?
No. Card and online payment is how the platform works rather than a setting, so there is no switch to turn cash on for a location, a shift, or a single order.
What happens if our internet goes down?
A card payment needs a network, so an outage stops you taking orders through AxioTab until it comes back. That is the honest trade for a card-only platform, and it is worth having the same fallback plan you would have for your card terminal going down.
What about a guest at the counter with no smartphone?
Today they need a phone that can open the payment link. Card acceptance on the tablet itself is on the roadmap and is the real answer for that guest; until it ships, a counter sale needs a phone.
